This Prezi presentation is an artifact from ETEC 501 in which I created a timeline of the major developments in distance education over the last century. This project helped me to evaluate the major technological advances for strengths and weaknesses that were innate in the technology, or in their implementation. This background information provides me with context for evaluating current technology and its impact on education. For example, is the technology easy to implement? Are teachers adequately trained to implement it? Is it expensive to purchase or maintain? Does it enhance instruction or is it redundant or otherwise poorly designed? These are some of the issues that I noticed over the course of this timeline, and which I believe are useful to ask when evaluating current technologies as well.
This is an artifact from ETEC 500 in which I discuss the application of situated learning theory and behavioral learning theory in my classroom, then compare and contrast cognitive information processing theory, cognitive load theory, and constructivism. After establishing how these theories relate to each other, I discuss how technology relates to the learning theories that I apply most often in my classroom.
